About Book

"Water is a scarce resource. To conserve our natural resources and to facilitate the production of water, all wastewater must first be cleaned of contaminants and pollutants before being reintroduced to the water cycle. Numerous procedures are employed to purify water and attain the highest possible natural water quality. The wastewater treatment process is a critical component of environmental conservation that should be promoted globally. The majority of wastewater treatment plants handle wastewater from residential and commercial properties. General types of water pollutants include pathogenic organisms, oxygen-demanding wastes, plant nutrients, synthetic organic chemicals, inorganic chemicals, microplastics, sediments, radioactive substances, oil, and heat. In general, wastewater treatment may be classified into two broad categories. To begin, harmful chemicals are eliminated from the water. This is accomplished via cleaning, removing iron and manganese, sterilisation, desalination, or softening. Second, particular compounds are added to enhance the quality and alter factors such as pH or conductivity. Industrial operations, refineries, and manufacturing plants often treat their effluent on-site. These facilities are intended to guarantee that wastewater is treated before to discharge into the surrounding environment.

This book covers a number of water quality issues relevant to treatment methods and new advanced approaches. It attempts to understand the various methodologies that fall under the practice of wastewater treatment processes and their relevance in a modern world. It deals with treatments of textile industries wastewater, photodecomposition behaviors of pesticides in the source for water, membrane separation process in wastewater treatment, polymer metal oxide nanocomposites for complex water treatment and mine waste water management. It also sheds light on governance in water treatment processes, inorganic contaminants in groundwater, agro-industrial wastewater by membrane technologies and adaptive controller for wastewater treatment plant. From theories to research to practical applications, case studies related to all contemporary topics of relevance to this field have been included in this book. The principal audiences include practitioners, professionals, university researchers, undergraduate and post-graduate students who are interested and specialized in municipal wastewater treatment and process design, environmental engineering and environmental biotechnology.
