About Book

"Environmental pollution is the introduction of dangerous elements into the environment as a result of pollutants. Pollutants are a variety of contaminants that have entered the environment as a result of both human activity and natural processes, resulting in pollution. These chemical compounds are toxic to both humans and animals. Environmentalists and scientists classify pollutants according to the type of pollution they create - such as water, air, soil, noise, and radioactive contamination. Other forms of pollution include thermal, plastic, agricultural, and light. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), frequently referred to as ""forever chemicals,"" are organic molecules that exhibit resistance to breakdown by chemical, biological, and photolytic processes in the environment. They are highly hazardous substances that have a detrimental effect on human health and the environment worldwide. Due to their ability to be dispersed by wind and water, the majority of POPs produced in a single nation may and do impact humans and animals in areas far far from where they are used and discharged. Numerous POPs are utilised as insecticides, solvents, medicines, and industrial chemicals today or in the past. While some POPs are naturally occurring (e.g., from volcanoes), the majority are man-made.

This book is a compilation of chapters that discuss the most vital concepts in the field of organic pollutants in the environment. It aims to provide the readers with thorough knowledge about this subject. It explores chemical degradation of chlorinated organic pollutants, electrochemical incineration of organic pollutants for wastewater treatment, oxidation processes for the degradation of organic pollutants and adsorption technique for the removal of organic pollutants. It also focuses on exposure to various organic and inorganic pollutants, organic and inorganic pollutants in waste water and drinking water and degradation pathways of persistent organic pollutants. Through this book, we attempt to further enlighten the readers about the various techniques and technologies associated with this field. Different approaches, evaluations and methodologies have been included in it. This book is aimed at researchers, professionals and graduate students in life science, occupational health and safety, chemical engineering and environmental engineering.
